• About the Innovation in Education Summit

The 3rd annual Innovation in Education Summit was held Friday, October 24th in Anaheim, CA.  Hosted by Project Tomorrow, this annual Summit brought together education, business, community, political, and parent leaders in Orange County to discuss and evaluate the challenges and opportunities for improving K-12 science, math, and technology education.  

The goal of this half-day summit was for the participants to formulate key strategies they can work on together, to ensure that Orange County graduates are prepared for the 21st century.

The 2008 Summit included a keynote address from Lance Dublin, of Dublin Consulting, and a presentation on Workforce Development Trends from Wallace Walrod, Vice President of Research and Communications at the Orange County Business Council.  The Leadership Panelists represented education, parent, student and business leaders who shared their perspectives about essential 21st century skills and opportunities for developing these skills.  During the Working Groups, participants brainstormed strategies for:

• Increasing Student Interest and Awareness in STEM Careers
• Stimulating Innovation in K-12 Science and Math Teaching and Learning
• Developing 21st Century Skills for the 21st Century Workplace
• Leveraging Emerging Technologies for Collaborative Learning
• New Economic Realities for Tomorrow’s Global Citizen

Results from the summit will be compiled into a community action plan and posted here.
