Science Docent Program
This nationally recognized high school program teaches high school students how to develop and teach hands-on, standards based science lessons to elementary school students. During the school year, high school students develop and teach six science lessons, participate in 20 hours of community service and attend career conferences.
The program:
- Encourages career exploration and increases the number of students entering the teacher pipeline.
- Increases elementary students’ interest in science at an early age.
- Provides elementary school teachers with enhanced science lessons and encouragement to improve their own science lessons.
Currently, this program is implemented in the following High Schools:
Brea Olinda High School (Brea, CA)
Estancia High School (Costa Mesa, CA)
Kennedy High School (La Palma, CA)
Magnolia High School (Anaheim, CA)
